FU Berlin Raum: JK28/130 Rost- und Silberlaube
Why climate politics often stops before becoming radical and why nation states will not save our planet.
A lot has been said about protest groups like Fridays for Future, extinction rebellion and Ende Gelände, but most mainstream critics just seem to focus on the activists’ age, their outer appearance or, in case of FfF, on them cutting school. Alternatively, “the economy” is declared as more important than climate change. On the other hand, most leftist commentators simply acclaim these groups and their demands, instead of asking questions like: why are the nation state and its government in most cases the only point of reference?
In this workshop, we will analyze why climate movements have to be antinational, anti-capitalistic and anti-racist to be successful and what they are currently missing.
